Pre-Course Task:

Once registered coaches will receive a short pre-course task a minimum 2 weeks prior to the event, inclusive of reflective prompts to encourage coaches to explore their understanding of the intended content prior to the session

Synthesis Tasks:

To encourage coaches to move learning from the short term memory to the long term memory, a number of synthesis activities, together with learning resources will be sent post course to encourage the recall and retention of information.

CIMSPA

All Coach Development Days are endorsed by CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for Sport & Physical Activity) carrying a weighting of 1½ a CPD point.

Attending coaches will be automatically uploaded onto the CIMSPA portal to recognise their attendance for the event (Full name and email) and offered membership if not already done so.  Those not wanting to be uploaded onto the portal should make Coach Centered aware of their decision.

Meet the Coaches

Alex King

Former Wales Attack Coach

Alex King is a highly regarded professional coach and former England international, widely recognised for his impact as an attack and backs specialist across European rugby.

Following a decorated playing career with Wasps—where he was a central figure in four Premiership titles and two Heineken Cup triumphs—King has built an outstanding coaching résumé at both club and international level.

He played a key role in ASM Clermont Auvergne’s historic Top 14 title in 2010, helped guide Northampton Saints to their first Premiership title in 2014, and has held senior coaching positions with Montpellier and Gloucester Rugby. On the international stage, he has had multiple stints as Attack Coach with the Wales national rugby union team, working under Warren Gatland through to 2025.

Across his coaching career, King has developed a reputation for building high-performing attacking systems and elevating backline play at the highest level of the game.

Amy Turner

Attack Coach at Rosslyn Park RFC & Hampton Boys Performance Coach

Amy Turner a Level 4 (England Rugby Performance Coach) is an experienced international coach and former England player with 59 caps, having represented her country as both hooker and scrum half, including at the 2010 World Cup.

She has successfully transitioned from elite player to high-performance coach, leading teams such as England U20s, England Women, Head Coach of Harlequins Women and most recently Pathway Coach with Harlequins Men, Currently Amy is attack coach at Rosslyn Park RFC. Amy brings deep insight into player and coach development. She is also a highly respected contributor to coach education through her ongoing work with Coach Centered.

Dai Flanagan

Attack Coach at Saracens

Dai Flanagan joins Saracens as part of the senior coaching team, bringing with him a strong reputation as one of the most progressive young coaches in Welsh rugby.

Flanagan arrives from Dragons RFC, where he served as Head Coach and was widely recognised for his commitment to developing homegrown talent and implementing an ambitious, attacking style of play. His ability to integrate academy prospects into the senior environment has been a hallmark of his coaching approach.

Prior to his time at the Dragons, Flanagan played a key role within Cardiff Rugby, contributing to one of the most productive development pathways in the professional game. Across both academy and senior settings, he has built a reputation for technical detail, clarity of message, and strong interpersonal skills.

At Saracens, Flanagan will further strengthen an already experienced coaching group, with his proven track record in player development and attacking rugby aligning closely with the club’s long-term vision. His appointment reflects both his rapid rise within the game and his potential to make a significant impact in the Premiership.

Patrick O’Grady

Head of Player Pathways at England Netball and current Attack Coach at Dorking RFC

Patrick O’Grady: Head of Player Pathways at England Netball. Former Academy Manager at London Irish for nine years followed by one year with the RFU as Academy Manager.

During his tenure Patrick cultivated a reputation for producing exceptional talent, guiding vast numbers of players to gain International age group honours, Premiership appearances and senior International caps.

Patrick was awarded a Distinction for completing a Masters - Investigating possible best practice within the Multidisciplinary Teams (MDT) of National Rugby Union Talent Academies; Alignment, Accountability & Acceptance, based on his experiences within the Academy setting.

Patrick is currently Coaching Dorking 1st XV, coaching individual & group skills sessions, running coach development workshops/masterclasses, as well as mentoring young players.
